SUMMARY:Twilight Tour: Burrier’s Linganore Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join the Million Acre Challenge at Burrier’s Linganore Farm for a Twilight Tour of this Leopold Conservation Award-winning farm\, a program designed to recognize and celebrate extraordinary achievement in voluntary conservation by agricultural landowners. \nWe’ll learn more about how the Burrier’s have kept soil health as their primary goal and how it has paid off in the long term health of their operation. The farm was recently featured in a Soil Health Case Study prepared by American Farmland Trust. We’ll have a chance to learn more about the study results during the tour. \nAlong with full-time farming\, David and Belinda are leaders in a variety of agricultural organizations\, cooperatives\, and foundations\, including Belinda’s tenure on the executive committee of the United Soybean Board. They grow corn\, soybeans\, wheat and hay. Using no-till\, cover crops\, stream buffers\, pollinator habitat and other conservation practices\, David has doubled the amount of organic matter in their fields\, simultaneously boosting water holding capacity\, suppressing weeds and improving soil health. As a result\, they’ve seen a 30% yield increase and a 25% input reduction on the farm.  \nWe look forward to spending the evening with you on June 27th. Please register in advance. He realized then that he truly aspired to follow in their footsteps\, and that making people laugh is what makes him feel happy and complete. He began following his dream immediately after graduating\, and has since become a fixture of the DMV comedy scene. Sam has developed a style and comedy content that will show you a unique and hilarious view of the world. Venues Sam has played include the DC Drafthouse\, Church Of Satire Comedy Club (Hanover\, PA)\, The Grisly Pear (NYC) and The PIT Theater (NYC). \nSteve Tracy\nSteve Tracy is a standup comedian that has honed his craft working on the Baltimore\, Maryland comedy scene. Participating farms are stepping it up this year! \nOn October 15th  from 10am to 4pm and 16th starting at 12pm and going until 4pm.  Area farms will open up their doors. There’s no registration or ticket required. Travel the countryside and stop at one or all of them! \nEach farm plans to host a variety of special activities and events. While you’re enjoying your time on the farm\, you’ll also be learning about agriculture in Frederick County.
