The Frederick County Office of Agriculture is excited to welcome Mia McGuffin as our new Intern! Born and raised right here in Frederick County, Mia brings fresh ideas, creativity, and a deep appreciation for agriculture that has been growing for years.
Although Mia and her family weren’t always deeply rooted in agriculture, she discovered her passion at just nine years old. Her journey began in 4-H with a single rabbit and quickly grew into breeding and market projects with rabbits, poultry, and goats. That early spark turned into something even bigger—by the age of 15, Mia launched her own small business called ‘Green Acre’s Suds’ creating handmade goat milk soap and other bath products—a true testament to her entrepreneurial spirit.
Throughout high school, Mia continued to grow as a leader through her local FFA chapter. Her dedication and drive led her to serve as the Maryland FFA State Sentinel, and most recently as a Maryland National Officer Candidate. These experiences helped shape her leadership skills and strengthened her passion to advocate for agriculture at both the state and national level.
In her new role, Mia will focus on enhancing the Homegrown Frederick brand through marketing and outreach. She will conduct interviews, create blogs, and share the stories of Frederick County Agriculture through photography and videography on our digital platforms. With her journalism and marketing experience, upbeat energy, and fresh perspective, Mia is ready to make an impact—and we couldn’t be more excited to have her on board!

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and seeking out new adventures. Whether she’s traveling and capturing moments through her camera lens, carving down the ski slopes day and night in the winter, or relaxing with a good book, she’s always embracing life with an adventure in mind.
Please join us in welcoming Mia to the Frederick County Office of Agriculture! Frederick County farmers- be on the lookout! Mia may be reaching out to you soon! If you have a unique story to share about your operation, you can contact her at MMcguffin@FrederickCountryMD.gov.
