On a scenic 20-acre stretch in Frederick, Maryland, Stone Pillar Farm is cultivating more than just crops—it’s growing a legacy of family, sustainability, and community nourishment. Owned and operated by first-generation farmers Mike and Abby Fahrner, alongside Mike’s parents, Jeff and Jeanne Fahrner, the farm began as a personal journey toward healthier food. Today, it’s a thriving, diversified operation feeding families across the region.

Mike and Abby’s three children were the inspiration behind Stone Pillar Farm. What began as a mission to provide their family with nutritious, responsibly raised food quickly evolved into a full-scale farm where they could implement best practices for livestock health and welfare and sustainable produce cultivation. That mission continues to guide their work today, with offerings that include fresh eggs, seasonal produce, year-round microgreens, grass-finished beef, and pasture-raised chicken and turkey.
The Fahrners’ commitment to animal husbandry shines through in their practices—like rotating their pastured birds daily to promote optimal animal health and minimize environmental impact. This year, Stone Pillar Farm processed approximately 1,500 chickens and is currently raising 70 turkeys—just in time for Thanksgiving. Their turkeys are in high demand, so don’t wait to reserve yours!

Stone Pillar Farm is also a proud recipient of the Agricultural Innovation Grant, which has helped them expand cold storage capacity for fresh poultry and invest in on-farm poultry processing equipment. “The Ag Innovation Grant has been a game-changer,” say Mike and Abby. “It’s allowed us to grow and diversify our operation responsibly while offering high-quality, local food to our neighbors.”
Their dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed—Stone Pillar Farm was recently featured in a Fox 5 segment in partnership with the Maryland Department of Agriculture, where they showcased how locally sourced ingredients can elevate your Thanksgiving meal.
